Method

  • Computed dates are marked Computed (rule), name their method, and link the official page for the rule (the State Fair, the DNR, USCCB, Hebcal, the Umm al-Qura calendar, NASA). Sky events are in Central Time (Minnesota); the UTC instant is in the API.
  • Islamic dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar; local moon sighting can move them a day. Hindu, Sikh and Jain festivals follow the lunisolar calendar for New Delhi; regional almanacs can differ. Both are marked tentative.
  • Researched events (sports, elections, summits, awards) are kept only when the cited page states the date; a script checks every one.
  • Anniversaries come from Wikipedia’s On this day selection (25th, 50th, 75th, 100th and so on); birth anniversaries only for people known in at least 75 Wikipedia languages.
  • The nightly research agent, when its keys work, reads recent announcements; its finds carry an Unverified badge until checked.
  • Nothing is deleted. A moved date keeps its old value in the Changes history; a cancelled event stays, marked cancelled.

Sources: official schedules and published calendars, linked on every event; computed dates name their rule. Refreshed nightly.
